JANUARY 29-MARCH 6, 2019
MCKINLEY SCHOOL STUDENTS ONLY!!!
TUESDAYS-SIX WEEK SESSION
Fashion First Workshop (Grades 3-5)
Ms. Renee Nesbitt-Baird
Fashion First Workshop is a fashion design sewing program. We teach the fundamental skills of learning how to sew and sketch, while also building self-esteem. Our students sew their own project, show it off at their last class during the fashion show, then they take their project home. This class is a great creative outlet for all students.
Broadway Bound Theater (Grades 1-3)
Ms. Gail Brickman
From Annie to Aladdin, bring a little star quality into your performer’s life. Working with both new and familiar show tunes, the students will concentrate on improving their skill-set in the triple threat techniques of singing, dancing and acting. End the session with a show-stopping “informance” of the musical theater routine learned that session. Encore!
Coding Music (Grades 3-5)
Ms. Christina Toulios
This class will be for students who are interested in learning more about coding music using a variety of resources. Students will explore Osmo Coding Jam to create their own songs and to code songs that they listen to. Students will also explore Scratch, and a variety of made with code music experiments to further understand how coding can correlate to music.
Chemical Engineering (Grades 1-3)
Morris County Engineering for Kids
During this chemical engineering class, students will use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine various mixtures and solutions with different chemical properties. They develop solutions to clean up an oil spill, synthesize their own rocket fuel, and investigate the secrets behind color pigmentation
WEDNESDAY- SIX WEEK SESSION
Amazing Astronomy (Grades 1-3)
Ms. Jennifer Martin
Join Mrs. Martin as we explore our solar system. We will discover the constellations, look at the phases of the moon and talk about the planets along with many other topics. Each week will include a fun hands-on activity tied into that week's topic. Join us for a fun trip through the galaxy!
Zoom Zoom Zumba! (Grades 1-3)
Ms. Gail Brickam
Zumba junior classes are rockin’, high-energy dances classes packed with kid friendly routines. We break down steps, add games, activities and cultural exploration elements into the class structure. Zumba kids get the chance to socialize with friends and jam out to their favorite music, helping to develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children’s lives. Classes incorporate key childhood development, elements such as leadership, respect, team work, confidence, memory, balance, and cultural awareness. Rock on!
STEM FUNdamentals (Grades 3-5)
Gear up your engineering skills with Play-Well TEKnologies and tens of thousands of LEGO® parts! Apply real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture through engineer-designed projects such as Houseboats, Mini Golf Courses, Forklifts, and the London Tower Bridge. Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment. There are no prerequisites for this course.
